Pour one out for an E3-less E3 season. This week on the NXpress Nintendo Podcast, Cameron Daxon, Marc Kaliroff, and Campbell Gill engage in an emotional discussion filled with rage, tears, shock, and amazement–as one does when talking about Nintendo. Marc kicks things off with some impressions of the upcoming Mario Strikers: Battle League, which has genuine potential to be one of the very best Mario sports games on Switch (is that a high bar to surpass? You decide). Next, the gang theorizes what Nintendo might have in store for this anti-E3 season–does the Big N have a showcase up its sleeve, or is that tradition broken forever now? At least we’ll always be able to count on Devolver for bringing the goods.
After that, it’s time for a rage-filled reaction to the latest combat gameplay footage for Sonic Frontiers, which, shockingly, looks horrible. TLDR: it ain’t looking good so far. Lastly, Cameron and Campbell close with a very different kind of emotional conversation about Behind the Frame: The Perfect Scenery and Life is Strange: True Colors, two very different Switch games that tug on your heartstrings and tell tear-jerking tales in ways that only video games can.

Here at NXpress Towers, we believe in Lechonk supremacy. This week on the NXpress Nintendo Podcast, Cameron Daxon, Marc Kaliroff, and Campbell Gill celebrate what would have been the first week of E3 season by sharing a mix of hot takes and first impressions. The hosts kick things off by reacting to the latest trailers for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet and, most controversially, Sonic Frontiers. Big shocker: Pokemon is packed with cute pocket monsters that have set Twitter on fire, and Sonic Frontiers has seemingly already botched its massive potential with an extraordinarily underwhelming seven-minute gameplay trailer. In other news: water is wet.
After so much breaking news, it’s time to go for a blast from the past, so Marc and Campbell give their thoughts on two of the latest retro collections to hit the market. Marc reviews Pac-Man Museum +, which may have a few perplexing design decisions that hamper its convenience and accessibility, but it’s still an admirable lineup for fans of one of gaming’s most recognizable arcade icons. Next up, Campbell spotlights the Wonder Boy Collection, a compilation of some of the unsung heroes of the platforming history–an excellent lineup for platforming fans, but one that also suffers from some bizarre design decisions.
Lastly, it’s time for the usual indie spotlight, so Marc and Cameron dive into the darkly aquatic world of Silt. This may be the most terrifying game ever made for thalassophobes, but it’s nonetheless an excellent atmospheric adventure for players who’ve enjoyed titles like INSIDE and Limbo in the past.

This week on the NXpress Nintendo Podcast, Cameron Daxon, Marc Kaliroff, and Campbell Gill make their grand return from a one-week mental health hiatus for a jam-packed episode. The gang kicks things off by discussing the news that Xenoblade Chronicles 3 has received a release date…and it’s way sooner than expected! The Xenoblade franchise’s third entry is now releasing in July rather than its previously announced September release window, meaning there’s. Of course, the question remains: if a delayed game is eventually good and a rushed game is forever bad, what is a game that bumps forward its release date by two months? Only time will tell…
Next up, Marc shares his thoughts on Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (the movie, not the Sega Genesis classic) and gushes about its humor, cast, and charm. This may just be one of the best video game films ever made–not that that’s an especially high bar, but oh well. The gang move on to a more general discussion of the Sonic series after this, sharing their impressions on the masterful Sonic Mania, their desire for more ports of 3D Sonic games, and apprehension for the future of the franchise. But hey, at least there are some good Sega Genesis games on Switch.
The hosts close things out by running through a spicy rumor: are Game Boy Advance games coming to Nintendo Switch Online? If rumors are to be believed, we could have an extraordinary lineup of classics heading to the Big N’s subscription service soon…although there’s no telling how much more we’ll have to pay for this expanded expansion pack.

Miitopia Review
This week on the NXpress Nintendo Podcast, the whole gang’s back together as Cameron Daxon, Marc Kaliroff, and Campbell Gill wade through the first major presentations of E3 season and review Nintendo’s latest first-party effort, Miitopia. The boys start out things out by discussing Sonic’s 30th Anniversary Livestream, breaking down the handful of exciting announcements that might just suggest the often-struggling series is finally spin dashing onto the right track. Then it’s time for a polar opposite presentation as the hosts try to make sense of the deliriously chaotic Dragon Quest 35th Anniversary Special, a show that might have proven disappointing for Western fans in some respects but nonetheless delivered some incredibly exciting reveals (just inject that Dragon Quest III remake into our veins already).
Miitopia takes center stage for the main event, as Campbell breaks down everything there is to know about Nintendo’s bizarre yet charming customizable RPG. It might not offer much by way of intricate gameplay or roleplaying mechanics, but what it does offer is an infinitely personable and highly accessible adventure that offers boundless opportunities for creativity. Grezzo has done it once again, showing that they can do so much more than mere Zelda ports. Closing things out with the traditional spotlight, Campbell gives a shoutout to Aerial_Knight’s Never Yield, an immensely stylish and uniquely personal autorunner that might not reinvent the wheel but nonetheless stands out from the crowd with its infectious soundtrack and distinct vibe.
