Tom Nook has an eye for business. That’s why the staple Animal Crossing character took time out of his very busy schedule to host a new video presentation about his latest endeavor, the Nook Inc. Deserted Island Getaway Package.
This week, Rick, Patrick, and Tim discuss the latest Nintendo Direct and the ins and outs of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, launching exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on March 20. Our podcast covers everything a potential Deserted Island Getaway Package customer will want to know including the lack of cloud saves, the mobile app, and what makes this game different than previous entries. We also discuss the basics of homeownership, details about new characters, land development, exploration, crafting and so much more.

After months of waiting, Nintendo has finally debuted their Nintendo Switch online service which comes with a new retro gaming offering in the NES app. This week, Marty Allen joins us to discuss the pros and cons of this new service. Before all that, we touch on a few indie games we haven’t yet had time to talk about on the podcast including Into the Breach, a turn-based strategy game which just so happens to be one of the best-reviewed games of 2018, and Minit, a really clever indie title consisting of sixty-second rounds in which the player attempts to uncover mysteries and lift a curse. Meanwhile, Rick and Marty go back and forth with their love and hate relationship with Dead Cells. Finally, ending the show is a twenty-minute discussion on what we want to see improved, added and updated in the new Animal Crossing game set for release on the Switch in 2019. All this and more!

This week on the NXpress Nintendo Switch Podcast, we discuss the latest Nintendo Direct including the announcement of Luigi's Mansion 3 and Animal Crossing on the Switch, not to mention the high-definition versions of some of the most beloved Final Fantasy games of all time and a special edition of the groundbreaking Katamari Damacy. And that's not all! We also discuss the Nintendo Online service, the Nintendo Entertainment System Controllers, and the stunning Nintendo Switch Super Smash Bros. Ultimate set. Before any of that, Tim reports on his experience at PAX West and shares his thoughts on the best indie games he played at the event. Finally, in our bonus content, our guest Maxwell N joins Ricky to review The Messenger, yet another indie game taking inspiration from the action-platformers of the 8-bit and 16-bit eras. Retro throwbacks are a dime a dozen these days, but we'll let you know if The Messenger is worth your time and money. All this and more!

Animal Crossing celebrated a big milestone last week, and we're certainly feeling plenty of nostalgia for the series. Fifteen years, six games and a whole lot of amiibo figures later, we're taking a look back at the Animal Crossing series this week. In our main event, we continue our Legend of Zelda marathon and discuss Links Awakening, an adventure set on the mysterious Koholint Island, a place where dreams and reality collide. As a castaway, Link must find a way to escape from the island and return to his beloved homeland of Hyrule. The Legend Of Zelda: Link's Awakening graced the monochromatic screens of Game Boys across the globe back in 1994, and two of three of us only played the game for the first time last week in preparation for the podcast. Joining us this week is Goomba Stomp's Chris Souza. All this and more!
