NXpress Nintendo Podcast #156: A Look Back at 'Resident Evil 2,' the Nintendo Direct, and 'Reverie'
Despite the Resident Evil 2 remake not appearing on the Switch (boo), we still find plenty to talk about this week when it comes to the legacy of one of the greatest survival horror titles ever made. Rick and Patrick are joined this week by Goomba Stomp's RE franchise expert Mike Worby to remember Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield's grotesque and terrifying experience in the Raccoon City Police Station, shooting zombies, running away from lickers, and getting scared out of our seats the first time Mr. X crashed through a wall. Along the way, we ask all the important questions: which scenario has the better story? What makes this setting so much better than the Spencer Mansion? Is William Birkin a psychopathic mad scientist bent on revenge, or a tragic figure at the mercy of his own creation? We get involved, people.
Before that, however, Goomba Stomp's Izsak Barnette joins the fellas to pore over all the major announcements from the latest Nintendo Direct. It was a big one, with some pretty welcome surprises! We go down the list, discussing our favorites and generally just being happy to be Switch owners. To round things out, Rick and Patrick also give a review of Reverie, a small Zelda-like game that takes place in a fictional New Zealand island setting. Did we get to meet some kiwis? For all this and more on the Nintendo Switch Podcast, have a listen!
