NXpress Nintendo Podcast 204: ‘Super Mario 3D All-Stars’ and ‘Circuit Dude’
Thursday Sep 24, 2020
Thursday Sep 24, 2020
It seems like it was just yesterday that Nintendo was announcing its compilation of 3D Mario games, and now here we are just two weeks later reviewing the collection on the NXpress Nintendo Podcast. Here are two of the greatest games ever made (and Super Mario Sunshine) in a compilation that’s well worth the price yet somewhat lacking in new features.
Thankfully, Super Mario 3D All-Stars is more than a simple port— and to tell you all about it, we’ve invited Goomba Stomp’s Marc Kaliroff and Cameron Daxon to help us review it.
Also, on tap is a review of Circuit Dude, a new puzzle game on Switch that strikes a balance between being very straightforward and demonically hard.

Monday Sep 21, 2020
Although e-sports have long been a part of video game culture since the early ’70s, competitions saw a large surge in popularity in 1989 when Universal Pictures-produced The Wizard, a movie about a trio of kids who make their way to a national Nintendo video game championship for a grand prize of $50,000. The Wizard didn’t go down as a timeless, cinematic classic, but it did develop an understandable cult following as the years went on, and in this segment, we tell you why.

Editor’s Note: Sadly, half of this 50-minute review was accidentally deleted. We plan on revisiting Super Mario 64 again in the near future.

Sunday Sep 20, 2020
Sunday Sep 20, 2020
In this segment, we continued our Super Mario marathon and finally got around to discussing the third 3D original platformer in the series after Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine. The iconic mascot’s long resume features some of the greatest platformers to ever grace any home console and on this episode, we reviewed Super Mario Galaxy, created by Nintendo’s EAD Tokyo studio, whose first project (believe it or not) was DK Jungle Beat, a disappointing flop for Nintendo.

Best of the NXpress Nintendo Podcast: ‘Super Mario Sunshine’ Review
Sunday Sep 20, 2020
Sunday Sep 20, 2020
It was a brave move on the part of Nintendo to launch the GameCube without a Mario game. Instead, Mario’s younger sibling took the spotlight in a new series Luigi’s Mansion. It was six years after Super Mario 64 was released that Nintendo gave us Super Mario Sunshine. In this segment— taken from episode 21 of the NXpress Nintendo Podcast— we take a look back on Mario’s summer getaway and everything that made the beautiful tropical island of Delfino so frustrating and fun.

NXpress Nintendo Podcast: How the Pandemic is Shaping the Future of Nintendo
Thursday Sep 17, 2020
Thursday Sep 17, 2020
Tim and Rick are back after taking some time off and joining them to talk about all things Nintendo is Goomba Stomp editor, Campbell Gill.
In this episode, the boys discuss the future of Nintendo and how the current COVID-19 pandemic might be changing Nintendo’s release schedule and the company’s marketing.
Also, on tap is a review of Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time, which adapts Genndy Tartakovsky’s masterful TV series in a new, three-dimensional light. According to Campbell, Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time is a welcome opportunity to revisit fan-favorite scenes in a fun, if unremarkable, action-packed romp.
In addition, the gang talks about the recent Super Mario Bros. 35th anniversary news as well as the announcement of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity.
All this and more.
